Fuji X100 TCL - Tele Conversion Lens Review

The Fuji X100 Tele Conversion Lens or 'TCL'

The Fuji X100 Tele Conversion Lens or 'TCL'

Here is a short review of the Fuji TCL, I don't bother with charts and all that so it's just a few photos of the kit, what I think about it and a healthy dose of sample images, all images are shot RAW and edited in Lightroom.

I'm working with the original x100

The Fuji TCL will turn your X100's 35mm field of view into a 50mm [full frame equivalent] whilst keeping it an F2 lens and retaining the fuji quality, it's made in Japan and feels nice and solid, it's screws on well and makes for a comfortable setup.

When using the EVF it will give you a 'get what you see preview' at the fight focal length, with the OVF the frame guidelines are smaller and in the middle, it's a real treat to use the OVF with this as you can see outside the frame, BUT it does block the bottom corner or your view.

It's fairly big and will add some size and weight to your X100, but it does feel nice in the hands as you can support it with your left hand on the lens, and after a while the size isn't really noticeable.

Before getting onto some samples I'll do a quick review with the 35mm 1.4 lens, I've set both cameras up the same and edited with the same Lightroom preset, the X100 isn't X-trans and is 12mp so they will be slightly different looking but here's a side by side if it helps.

Note the 35mm is a 52.5mm field of view so thats why the X100 seems a bit wider.

XE2 + 35mm [at F2]

X100 + TCL [at F2]

I'll end the review there and out some sample images below, I did a bit of street photogrpahy with this lens and some general stuff, it's a nice bit of kit all round and offers another string to the X100's bow; do let me know if you have any questions regarding this lens, and feel free to comment and share.

Cheers,
