“Well, what can I say! We are blown away by the photos we've received from our day, we can't believe how well he managed to capture everything that was going on. Colin was like a fly on the wall, that for the most part, we forgot he was there! Absolutely fantastic to work with.”

Back at Dewsall Court to photograph the fantastic wedding of Chris + Georgina!
“We have only just looked at the slideshow, but wow it’s amazing! Thank you so much.”
-Chris + Georgina
I haven’t had the pleasure of shooting at Dewsall since before the pandemic so it was great to be back there after a few years and this wedding was a stunning one from start to finish…
Welcome to part 2 of my 2023 trip around Iceland!
Our 4th day on the road in Iceland and our sleep schedule is well and truly swapped around.
We started our day at about 5 a.m. with a visit to the nearby Viking Villiage which was a film set for The Witcher and then hit the road heading east…
Here’s the start of my several part travel blog around Iceland after my wife and I got married out there!
Take a look at the blog post before this one about our wedding and how we chose to elope to Iceland, this series of blogs is all about the road trip afterward and what we got up to.
Our journey starts near Hella in the Iceland Panoramic Glass Lodge where we got married and took us in our campervan around the ring road of Iceland and to loads of awesome sights and places to see.
Here are a bunch of useful travel tips and a bit of an FAQ if you are planning a trip to Iceland!
Alongside my Travel blog series and Icelandic Elopement blog, I’ve also written this little travel tips post that should help if you are planning a trip to Iceland. As always drop me a question in the comments if I’ve missed anything!
So, I got married! My wonderful wife and I took ourselves away to Iceland to elope by ourselves and then spent just over 2 weeks driving around the country in a camper van and generally having the most awesome time…
Finally getting back into Street Photography and I’ve got my new Fuji X100T to thank.
I recently traveled to London to visit a friend and purchase a suit for my upcoming Icelandic elopement.
During my stay, I had the opportunity to explore the city with my Fuji X100T camera and immerse myself in street photography, a passion that I had neglected for years.
I had the pleasure of filming my first wedding of 2023 back in February, which happened to be a re-booking from a canceled COVID wedding in 2020.
The couple had made three attempts to set a date, but fortunately, the day finally arrived, and we were blessed with uncharacteristically warm and sunny weather for a February day…
“We wanted to say a massive thank you for our amazing videos of the day, we’ve watched them over and over! It has been so great to watch the day back especially as it really did fly by!
You were amazing on the day as well, everything felt super easy and effortless. You captured so many moments we would’ve forgotten or never seen otherwise!”

While AI is still in its infancy, it's already revolutionising the way wedding photographers work.
That’s not actually the opening line I wrote for this blog post, I went for: ‘We’re at the very early stages of AI, but this tech is already proving to be an incredible tool for wedding photographers.’
I then asked Chat GPT to write it better and the above is what it gave me.
In this post, I’m going to explore what AI can do for wedding photographers and just how much it’s going to change the whole world.
I went and bought a Fuji X100T and I’m wondering why I ever left the Fuji X100 series.
This has happened before, a few years back I sold my Fuji X100 and then got it again and then sold it again and now I’m back to owning a Fuji 100T…
This is a similar post to ‘10 Questions to ask you Wedding Photographer’ but I figured it makes sense to do one more tailored to videography.
This should give you a good idea of what to ask if you’re looking to book a wedding videographer, and I’ve put my answers here too which might also be helpful.
Let’s get into it…
In an effort to do some more blog posts about tips and hints for wedding planning here are the top 10 questions to ask your wedding photographer, and how I would answer them.
It’s really important to have a good relationship with your photographer and these questions are some of the most crucial, but as with anything weddings make sure you ask all the questions you need so you get exactly what you want from the day.
Let’s get into it…
“Absolutely blown away by these. The way you have captured the beauty, emotion and happiness of the day is nothing short of perfect.
We will treasure these forever. Thank you so much for being such a huge part of our day.”

I upgraded to the 18mm 1.4 from the 23mm 1.4 in 2022
TL:DR (Too Long - Didn’t Read ) This lens is a great, light, quick-to-focus lens with great image quality and a surprisingly nice depth of field when shot at F1.4 - It pairs fantastically well with the 33mm F1.4 which is my go-to combo for wedding photography.
I had the pleasure of second shooting this wedding for Che Birch Hayes in the summer of 2022.
We headed down the day before as it was a fair drive from Hereford to Kent and settled into our hotel with a pizza. The next morning we drove over to Bore Place, which is an absolutely stunning wedding venue…
I’m getting married!
After proposing to my partner in 2021 we got to work planning our wedding. We decided instead of planning a regular wedding in this country we would hop on a plane and get married in Iceland, somehow, even though my fiancé has never been to Iceland she agreed and the planning started.
My first few months with the new Fujifilm XH2 camera!
This is going to be a bit of a long review detailing my first few months with the XH2 and how it’s working out for me, it’s very much a real-world review so I won’t be doing sensor tests and all that jazz, instead just a rambling of thoughts and some example photos!

An incredible Brinsop Court Wedding!
“Wow!! Wow!!! Wow!!!! Thank you so much. The highlights and film are beyond anything we could have asked.”
- Hannah + Peter
October 2022 and I’m spending the morning double-checking my gear before heading up to Brinsop Court to make a wedding film…
Time for my last blog post of 2022 - The Yearly Review.
I last did a proper one of these in 2019, then in the subsequent years they kinda fell off the radar as I did fewer weddings and photography work and more marketing work, but that’s all changed now, so let’s get into it!
“Colin managed the capture the absolute joy and love which filled our wedding day. Not only photos of ourselves but of our guests enjoying the day too. He captured every special moment from start to finish. We wasn't interested in standing for posed photographs for hours on end, we wanted someone who could capture the natural and beautiful moments as it happened. Colin did all that and more! Highly recommend!”

As the year is coming to an end I’ve made the plunge and upgraded my kit.
With a few more weddings to shoot, but much more time in between I find the off-season to be a much better time to change gear. This allows me time to learn the new kit and how I work with it, whilst not being overwhelmed with work, I’ll also be using my old kit as a backup just incase I need it…
“Oh we love them!!! Thank you so much. We’re smiling so much in them!” - Beth + Alex
The weekend after the massive heatwave we had in the UK was Beth and Alex’s wedding at the always lovely Lyde Court and thankfully a much cooler day…
Full Disclosure. I’ve now sold this lens and opted for the Fuji 33mm 1.4 which given that it’s weather-resistant, has autofocus, and is just really really good means there was no room for this lens in my bag as well, even though it is a really special bit of glass.
I’ve been meaning to blog this for a while now, these shots were taken back in summer when my partner and I, along with our good friend went foraging in a local woodland.
I took the Fuji XH1 + 33mm which is my go-to one lens setup, it’s really light, takes super nice images and is just a pleasure to use > See my review of the Fuji 33mm lens here <
Mounting a GoPro onto my camera while I shoot candids…
Time to do something a little different and something that I’ve been meaning to do much more of this year - behind-the-scenes videos of how I shoot.
I chose to do these during the drinks reception as it’s a good time to move around and get a lot of different photos and also not such a crucial time of the day that I’ll find the GoPro distracting…
TL:DR (Too Long - Didn’t Read ) This lens is a fantastic small, light, quick-to-focus lens with great image quality and a really nice depth of field when shot at F1.4 - If I had to photograph a full wedding day on only one lens then this would be it by a damn mile.
It was that time of year for the annual Photography Show at the NEC!
I’d not been for 6 years, between being busy with work and Covid meaning the event wasn’t on, it was great to finally be back and trying out new camera gear…
My first time at Bredenbury Court Barns and it was an absolute stunner of a wedding day!
“Thank you so much, the photos are honestly amazing, you captured our day perfectly. We can’t wait to show our family and friends. ”
-Alice & Ryan
This was my first time at Bredenbury and I was really glad to get a chance to photograph here as it really is a lovely Herefordshire wedding venue.
