Fuji XE2 / Using and old OM 100mm/2.8 and focus peaking for a nice telephoto alternative

Most Fuji's users will agree that when it comes to a fast telephoto Fuji haven't really got this down just yet, of course you have the offerings of the 56/1.2 which is an incredible lens, but nothing is available that offers the long reach and fast aperture of say a 135mm.

So after fishing my dad's old OM gear out and purchasing an adapter on eBay I was good to go with my small and light but fast telephoto lens set up. The 100mm OM /2.8 lens gives you a 150mm equivalent focal length and with focus peaking enabled the manual focus is actually quite easy.

The lens has a very nice feel both in its physical metal body and it's 'look' of the images it makes, it works very well to separate the background from subject and has reasonable sharpness, overall the quality is great for me and I'm starting to use it more and more.

At a recent wedding we had a patch of sunny weather where people headed outside, it's times like this I like having that reach as people spread out that bit more and the 60mm (which is my usual telephoto of choice) just doesn't reach where I'd like.

Overall this is a nice tele lens that is worth picking up if you can get it cheap, it's also really really small, so fits nicely with the compact fuji ethos, and also in the bag, below are sample images taken with this lens, either on the XE1 or XE2, feel free to comment below.

Cheers, Col-
