Fuji X100F - Coming back to the X100 series
The start of my fuji journey
It’s been a long while since a Fuji X100 series camera was part of my kit bag, but with the addition of my own Fuji X100F (in stylish black) that is no longer the case.
The original X100 was my first X Series camera back in the day, it was a slow little thing back then but it was just wonderful to use, it started my Fuji journey and led me through a range of X cameras to where I am today.
I used the first X100 as mainly a street photography camera, you can read more about this on an old blog post of mine where I went to Paris where it faired incredibly well. Fuji X100 Street Photography
After a year or so with the X100 I got further into the X-series system with an XE1, from here it was Fuji all the way…
After a couple of years with the original X100 I upgraded to the X100T, the third iteration of the camera, this model proved to be really fantastic with a much (muuuuuuuuch) quicker user experience and higher resolution. Fuji X100T Review
The X100T also proved to be a very capable wedding camera, being almost entirely silent and very discreet I was able to get very close up to people and get those candids I’m so fond of. Fuji X100T for Wedding Photography
I took this camera to Paris as well. Fuji X100T in Paris
I did however get rid of this camera after a series of repairs to fix a faulty battery connection it just wasn’t reliable in a wedding situation, this is also when I moved from the rangefinder format over to the SLR format of the Fuji XT2.
I did get the chance to try the X100F in London on a touch and try day when they came out, I really loved it then but couldn’t justify the price when it just came out. Fuji X100F in London
SUMMARY
Now we come to the end of 2019 (when I’m writing this post) and the time is right for me financially to pick up a refurbished X100F from the Fuji Shop (a great place for cameras) - I brought this camera primarily as a walk about/street photography camera which is something I’ve not been doing much of over the past few years, this is going to be my personal camera, something I can use to really enjoy the craft again and just get out and make more images.
The camera is just fantastic, it’s fast and responsive and just a pleasure to use, something I think is overlooked with cameras sometimes. I love my XH-1’s for work, they do the job but they are work horses, they aren’t a pleasure to use, I don’t take them out and about but with the X100F I do.
It works fantastically as a street camera and a walk about camera, and I’m very glad to of rejoined the X100 family.
