Catch Up - Weddings, Shoots and meeting awesome people.
Well it's safe to say that busy is the word, shooting, planning and editing weddings while keeping up with blogging and trying out gear as well as investing time into Delve [check the link to find out more] but thats how I like it, nice and busy. Oh and throw moving house into all that as well.
This blog is just a quick catch up of what I'm doing at the moment and a few images that might not have made it into any other blog posts, as well as some personal work, it's a sort of 6 month review of how this year is going and how i'm getting on with the goals I set out in my year review, which are getting there, slowly but surely.
I've said it before but part of what makes me do this job are the incredible people I get to meet, after a meeting or wedding I'm always filled with such a sense of happiness, seeing people plan and enjoy the best day of their lives really is life affirming, then after all that getting to deliver them images which they can treasure forever is just perfect.
I've already met so many great people this year and have many more weddings to shoot and hopefully even more next year, thats one of my main goals, building up the level of weddings I'm shooting, but without investing a massive amount of money into advertising promotion, I don't believe paid for promotion works well for wedding suppliers, directories and paid for ad's have never had an appeal to me and by cutting these out I keep my outgoings nice and light.
My main focus for getting my work out there are wedding blogs, head to So Your Getting Married to see my work in one such blog, I really like this format of exposure and am constantly sending submissions to other bloggers to try and get even more weddings out there.
I've recently moved house which is fantastic, makes it a little bit more stressful to do it in wedding season, but organisation is key and I've managed to keep caught up with editing and delivery.
Lets talk gear, head to my latest gear blog post to see what I'm working with at the moment, as for new bits I picked up a super cheap Fuji XM1 which is a great backup/walkabout camera, the flip out screen is very useful, so far I've been trying this with the 18mm on at weddings for a quick to grab wide angle, oh and it's on a second spider holster of course.
I'll leave it there for now, there's lots more weddings coming on the blog and my usually summer refresh of portfolio content, now that I'm all settled down in my new place it will be full steam ahead on all my projects, stay tuned for more.
Cheers, Col-
