Crickhowell Wedding Photography | Fuji XE1 Wedding Photos
This post is from a wedding I shot a few months ago, it was a second shooting job and when I take these jobs It allows me some freedom to have a play around and experiment a bit with my technique and with gear.
To this wedding I took just the Fuji XE1's along with the 35mm, 60mm, 18-55mm and the 55-200mm. Shooting a wedding with the Fuji 55-200mm was something I had wanted to try since I recently got the lens and this was the perfect opportunity, and while it is a great lens and there are some shots I like with it, it just doesn't give me that look I go for in my work, as well as adding a significant weight and bulk to the fuji kit, which kind of defeats the whole purpose.
Other than that I shot most of the day using my favourite lens of them all; the 35mm 1.4, I'm still adamant that I could do a whole wedding using just this and feel so comfortable using it and the look which it gives me.
My next progression kit wise is to borrow a 56mm when I can and see how I like it, I'm also looking at getting the Samyang 8mm fisheye for something different to use, not so much for weddings but landscapes, mainly ahead of my trip to Iceland in March.
As for this wedding I was happy with the work and to have a bit of a play with some new gear, the wedding itself was great with an owl flying down the aisle, an eagle and arcade games, it wasn't without its problems tho as there were rolling blackout thoughtout the day, but the shooting went on and I made it my goal to get good photos in the dark, after all if your wedding is dark I'll shoot it dark, its all about remembering it as it was.
If you are planning a wedding this year then do get in touch, feel free to comment below and share around on social media.
